The luxury apartment complex is located in district North in the new housing estate Overhoeks overlooking the IJ and within a few minutes' walk of the short ferry towards the centre of Amsterdam. The front and the back are still under construction but will soon have 2 parks one in the front and in the back where you can relax.
The apartment complex, called The Wing, has a very beautiful and dynamic shape, it has a cosmopolitan allure with an ideal location with plenty of greenery and the city within easy reach. The shape of the building, a wing, creates a unique dynamic between nature and architecture. The Schegpark is also home to The Wing's communal garden. Thus, every resident enjoys this unique spot, with views of EYE Film Museum and the A'DAM Tower. Partly due to the use of natural stone in the façade, The Wing has something Italian - and that was exactly what the architect wanted to achieve.
The architect's idea was to bring the outside in, as much openness as possible due to the unique location with views of the Schegpark, the IJ, EYE museum and the Adam Tower.
The Wing has a striking fold in the building. The architect chose this shape for good reason. The shape came from the location, on the Schegpark and overlooking the IJ. Then you want to create as many views as possible. Bringing the outside in, that was Powerhouse Company's Paul Stavert's idea. The horizontal lines emphasise the panache of the balconies, which playfully alternate between straight and rounded corners. Moreover, the façade also staggers, making the balcony extra deep in certain places.
